Can You Save a Cannabis Plant From Root Rot?
Timing matters. Recovery depends on how much living root tissue remains and how quickly you correct the root-zone conditions.

Why
Sometimes a cannabis plant can recover from root rot, but timing and remaining healthy root tissue matter. In a connected RDWC system, treat the shared root zone as contaminated. Drain the old nutrient solution, correct reservoir temperature and aeration, refill with properly mixed nutrients, and choose one compatible biological or sanitation strategy. Avoid pulling or cutting attached roots, remove loose debris, reduce plant stress, and judge recovery by healthy new roots and new growth rather than the clock.
What to remember
- Recovery is possible when enough living root tissue remains.
- Treat a connected RDWC root zone as contaminated.
- Drain the old solution and refill with properly mixed fresh nutrients.
- Correct reservoir temperature and maintain continuous aeration.
- Choose a compatible biological or sanitation strategy. Do not combine incompatible products.
- Leave attached roots alone, remove loose debris, and watch for healthy new roots and growth.
