Do You Need Supplemental CO₂ in a Grow Tent?
If your exhaust runs often during lights-on, supplemental CO₂ is usually a poor first upgrade.

Why
Plants use CO₂ during photosynthesis to make sugars for growth. Incoming room air normally replaces the CO₂ they use. If your exhaust runs often during lights-on, supplemental CO₂ is usually a poor first upgrade. Much of what you buy can leave through the fan.
Can enrichment help? Yes. A controlled study on high-CBD cannabis found more flower yield, but that is not a promise for your tent. Once something else limits growth, extra CO₂ can cost money without helping much. At excessive levels, it can harm plants and pose a risk to people.
First, see why your exhaust runs. If it controls heat or humidity, keep it. Shutting it off to hold CO₂ can hurt the grow.
Second, trace the intake. A fan inside only moves air around. If the tent draws from a closed room with little fresh-air supply, check that room too. With a reliable CO₂ meter, watch the room and canopy through a normal lights-on period. If room CO₂ keeps falling, improve its fresh-air supply. If canopy CO₂ stays well below room air, check airflow through the tent.
Third, is the grow ready? Strong light, healthy roots and nutrients, and stable temperature and humidity come first. If you enrich, measure whether CO₂ stays elevated at the canopy without losing those conditions. Run a controllable system only during lights-on; in the dark, plants are not photosynthesizing. A bag or tank alone cannot show that CO₂ at the canopy is elevated.
For most tent growers, focus on fresh air and a healthy, well-lit grow. Consider enrichment only if you can hold and measure it while keeping the climate right.
